Issue 5: Songs from Prompts, Robots That Dance & Other Audio Oddities
Welcome back to The Flop—your cozy corner for demystifying AI with warmth, wit, and a dash of whimsy!
This week, we’re turning the volume up—literally—with a look at how AI is reshaping the world of sound. And we’ve got a Hack for anyone who wants to create a Father’s Day gift that he’s sure to love.
🐰 Down the Rabbit Hole
How AI is Remixing the World of Sound
We talk a lot about AI that writes. Or draws. Or chats.
But one of the most quietly mind-blowing frontiers right now? AI and audio.
From podcasts to pop songs, bedtime stories to brand jingles, AI is learning how to generate sound in ways that feel real. And it’s not just reading a script in a robot voice anymore. It’s composing, narrating, singing, and mixing.
Here are a few fun terms to know as this AI audio space evolves:
🎙️ Text-to-audio
This is where it all starts. You type something like: “Make a soft-spoken bedtime story about a pirate who loves soup.” And AI turns it into a full audio file—often with background music, ambient noise, and narration that sounds like it came from a real person with a cozy mic setup.
🧠 Generative voice models
These models don’t just mimic generic speech. They can learn a specific voice (a celebrity, a character, or your own) and then say new things in that voice. Think Morgan Freeman reading your grocery list, or your kid’s voice narrating a picture book.
Cool? Yes. A little scary? Also yes. We’ll do a deep dive in a future issue on the copyright and security implications of this tech.
🎵 AI music generation
This is where tools like Suno (see Today’s AI Hack) come in. These tools generate original music, melody, lyrics, vocals, and all, based on a short prompt. These songs aren’t stitched together from samples. They’re generated note by note, word by word, based on patterns the AI has learned from thousands of other songs.
We’re entering an era where sound is as editable, remixable, and creatable as text or images. That means:
Theme songs for your pets
Audiobooks in your own voice (without actually recording)
And, as you’re about to see... Father’s Day anthems 🎸
🛠️AI Hack of the Week
Write a Custom Father’s Day Song with Suno
Okay, now that we’ve dipped our toes into AI audio, here’s a fun example of how I used it to make something personal (and super family-friendly).
Introducing: The Father’s Day Rock Anthem—a custom AI-generated song I made using Suno.
Here’s what Suno did:
Turned a short prompt into an original song with lyrics, vocals, and guitar solos
Brought in personal details that the kids helped brainstorm - like Dad’s love of fishing, hiking, and shooting hoops
Delivered a track in under 2 minutes that we plan to share with him on Sunday.
No studio. No songwriting experience. Just a few clicks, some kid-powered creativity, and very on-brand dad content.
✅ Step-by-Step: Make a Custom Song in Minutes
Go to Suno.com
You’ll be greeted with a prompt window like this:Enter your prompt.
The more info you include, the more personal your song will be. Make sure to provide a music genre (jazz, hip hop, rap, rock etc).
🎸 This was our prompt:
“Create a hard rock song about our dad. Talk about how he loves to be outdoors, fishing or hiking. Talk about how he loves basketball. Tell him we think he's the best dad and we love hanging out with him.”
Click “Create” and Sign Up for an Account
After you click Create, you’ll be prompted to sign up to get your songs. Suno has a free basic plan that gives you enough credits to create a handful of songs for personal use. (You’ll need the paid plan if you plan to use your creations for commercial use.)Listen to your Songs
After 60–90 seconds, you’ll get two short clips of your song. You can read the lyrics and listen to the music. Choose your favorite.

Share It With Dad
You can copy the link to your song and send it to Dad by text or email. You also have the option to download the file if you prefer. You can listen to our song here.

And there you have it - a hyper-personal Father’s Day gift. No gift wrap required.
🙂 Tiny Delights
Binkies & Zoomies
This week’s serotonin boost comes courtesy of WeRobot, America’s Got Talent and five robot dogs. Yes, you read that right.
Boston Dynamics took the stage with a squad of four-legged robots who danced—in perfect sync—to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” It’s like watching a halftime show from the future.
At one point, a robot malfunctions (because even the best of us flop sometimes), but instead of ruining the moment, it made the performance more human and more impressive.
It’s weird, wonderful, and watch-worthy. And your kids will love it.
🌳 Moment of Calm
AI Antidote: Where in the World?
Before we wrap, here’s a little moment of calm for your eyeballs. No AI, no productivity hack—just nature doing its thing.
Can you guess which National Park this is?

Where in the World?
Last week’s mystery photo had zero guesses 😢. Was it too tricky? Or maybe this section just isn’t sparking joy?
For the record, the answer was: Denali National Park.
The correct answer: Denali National Park.
This week, take a guess—or let me know if it’s time to retire this section and try something new. I’m always up for a little seasonal flop-refresh.
👋 Until Next Week
Thanks for being here. I know your inbox is a busy place, and I hope this one made you feel just a little smarter and more prepared in this new world of AI.
Warmly,
Ricci
